Take A Knee

IMG_1660.JPG

With the support of Trump, NFL owners have created a new policy that states that players can no longer kneel during the national anthem without facing possible punishments or financial penalties. Can you say missing the point!? It's crazy to see how quickly rules can be implemented when focused on insignificant issues or if we're being real, "issues" pressed by white people. But when those issues pertain to the humanity of black people, it takes years and years for change to occur.

Colin Kaepernick did not kneel to disrespect the flag nor to incite a race war. He knelt because there are injustices happening every single day towards people of color that are swept under the rug. I mean how many years has Flint, Michigan been waiting on clean water? It's ridiculous how black people are treated in this country but expected to not talk about it. When we talk about it, we're seen as violent, combative, ungrateful, lazy, and the list goes on and on...

Whenever I pass this mural in my neighborhood, I feel a little hope. Things are definitely coming to light a lot more but not at the necessary speed. It's just - what do we do next? What can we do that hasn't already been done? What's going to be that final straw that changes America?
